HIMAWARI BABIES...the land of the "Sunflower" babies

A tale that's not tall at all...

In a land not too far from here,
is a wonderful place that only few know about.

Hidden between two enormous mountain ridges,
lies a valley lush and green.
Deep within that valley is a very secret spot.

Sunflowers grow WiLd & up to 10 feet tall!
And, if you are one of the lucky few,
blessed with an open pure heart filled with lots of love,
you will look quietly between the
sunflowers and find...

The hApPy himawari babies!

Everyday is a day of the rainbow
filled with colors of every kind.
If you take a look around, you will see~
not only one rainbow, but two, or three!

Giggles and laughter are heard every minute of the day
because
in the land of the sunflowers,
the happiest babies can be found.

Welcome to the land of the hApPy hImaWari bABies...
where joy & happiness is a wink & a heartfelt hug each day.

Thank you for your interest in Himawari Babies.  So where to start...first off, "himawari" means sunflower in Japanese and there is a whole story behind my himawari babies.  Hopefully one day I will be able to incoporate the Himawari Babies story in the form of a children's book.   We all can dream right?

Some of these character's are over 12 years old because I started drawing some of them as far back as highschool!  And through the years, I collected many characters that I lovingly call my Himawari Babies   I used to doodle a character, print it on cardstock, and make special cards or stationary, or even luggage tags for some of my friends.  Then in 2005 at the urging of a friend, Himawari Babies opened for business introducing HIMAWARI BABIES CHARACTER KIDDIE TEES.   For a brief period, the himawari babies kiddie shirts were being sold at Kahala Kids in Kahala Mall.

Himawari Babies took a short break while I was busy being fertile mertile mommy... (1 boy & 3 girls!!!!) however once an artist, always an artist, and I continued to "doodle" and create more himawari babies.  In September of 2008, just by chance, I was given the opportunity to test the market using card stock sheets with images printed and sold as character cut outs.  I never realized that people would be interested or like the images I drew.  I was amazed and flattered by the craft community's attraction to my  himawari babies characters.

So what is a character cut or punch out sheet?  It is a sheet of cardstock with my images printed on them in rows.  Way back when their was no adobe photo elements or the cricut, people used to stamp images onto a paper, color them in, and then cut them out (many stampers still do! =0).  I mix a bit of the old with a bit of the new.  The hard part is that the characters aren't cut out for you, YOU cut them out as a true stamper would.  Then all you do is embellish & create.

Now cutting, some people enjoy it, most don't.  It takes practice & I especially like to use the cutterbee scissors in pink.  Believe it or not, once you get used to cutting, it becomes therapeutic.  Turn on the AC, the T.V. , get comfortable, and cut away...........!

Now for those of you who just can't fathom the idea of having to cut out an image... we have Character Punches.  Which are basically the same characters spaced out so you have less on a sheet, but have the luxury of using eith a Marvy Uchida 2" PUNCH or Nestabilities to cut out your characters.  Great for making tags...

And our latest size in the Character Cut-outs is the 3 inch.  This is the perfect size for all you scrapbookers or people who like to make specialty cards.  Can add a zing to any project.

Currently Himawari Babies Character cut out sheets are being sold at Photo Craft on Waialae and Wilhelmina..  Great store to check out & a hidden gem.  Every crafter's dream store!

I hope that answers most of your questions Feel free to email me directly at himawaribabies@aol.com if you have any further questions.
